ADMISSION STANDARDS
Students requesting admission into the
Polysomnography Program will be reviewed by the program
admissions committee. Selected will be based on the following
criteria:
1. Preference will be given to
applicants with prior health care experience.
2. Students should have completed a
minimum of 60 college hours of credit.
3. Preference will be given to
applicants with a grade point average greater than 2.5 (C+) on of a 4.0 scale.
4. Proof of a current CPR
healthcare provider “C” card.
5. Eight hours of observation in a sleep
center.
The Polysomnography Program is a technology
enhanced program with internet based learning modules, clinical
rotations, and periodic classroom instruction. Students should
have access to a computer and the internet, be able to open and
send attachments, and have the ability to navigate online course
materials.
Once accepted into the program, students
will be required to submit a completed physical form indicating
appropriate vaccinations. Prior to starting the program,
students will need to show proof of malpractice insurance and
completion of a criminal background check.
**Registered Polysomnography Technologist Credential
Eligibility
Upon successful completion of the program the graduate will
be eligible to sit for the Registered Polysomnography
Technologist (RPSGT) credential. This is the highest sleep
credential achievable by a non-physician. The credential is
offered through the Board of Registered Polysomnographic
Technologists (BRPT) and is considered the gold standard in
sleep credentialing.
