Function of Position

Responsible to the Director of Admissions for assisting with daily administrative duties including planning and implementing of a comprehensive student recruitment and procurement program; classifying of students for fee payment purposes; analyzing academic credentials with regard to TBR and university policies governing admissions; managing the Academic Common Market Program; data management with regard to the Student Information System; assisting with budget management; assisting with staff supervision; acting as director and/or associate director in his/her absence; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

- Manages the process and makes decisions regarding classification of students for fee payment purposes.

- Manages the process for students to be certified to participate in the Academic Common Market.

- Evaluates academic credentials with regard to admission and advance standing.

- Evaluates military credit for applicability to degree programs.

Secondary Functions

- Assists with comprehensive student recruitment and procurement program.

- Assists with data management with regard to the Student Information System (SIS).

- Assists with budget management.

- Assists with development activities.

- Assists with personnel management (five professional counselors and eleven support staff).

- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Abilities

- Knowledge of university academic programs, student services, physical facilities, history, demographics, policies and procedures.

- Knowledge of Tennessee Board of Regents' policy and Tennessee Code Annotated with regard to admissions, residency classification and course requirements.

- Knowledge of university admissions requirements.

- Knowledge of registration procedures.

- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.

- Ability to relate well to others.

Supervision Given and Received

Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree required; two to three years of admissions experience.
