Function of Position

Responsible to the Director for assisting in administration of placement services and cooperative education programs; developing and coordinating seminars on job getting subjects; working with alumni concerning individual career plans and needs; communicating job market trends, salaries and geographic opportunities; assisting with freshman orientation and in communicating office technology systems in areas of resume writing, databases, mock interviews and video conference interviewing; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

- Works with students and employers in placement and cooperative education.

- Assists with freshman orientation.

- Meets with alumni concerning career issues.

- Counsels students in career choices and academic majors.

- Conducts seminars and job fairs.

Secondary Functions

- Writes and edits office publications and handout materials.

- Works with faculty to increase their support of office services and programs.

- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Abilities

- Knowledge of job market on local, regional and national levels.

- Knowledge of skills, aptitudes, and education associated with multifarious careers.

- Knowledge of current and future job market supply information and degree of competition within each respective career.

- Knowledge of computers.

- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and small/large groups.

- Ability to organize effectively.

Supervision Given and Received

Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in behavioral sciences or business; one year of experience in business, industry, health care or government.
