dignity and respect, and are encouraged to achieve their full potential; Function of Position Responsible to the Associate Vice President for Financial Services for the management of all technology resources in the Division of Business and Finance including facilitating the implementation of new business systems and projects; managing the implementation of the Division of Business and Finance information technology servers and services; managing the technical operations of the division's information technology (IT) systems and developing and coordinating the division's IT strategic plan; enhancing the implementation of technological business solutions; providing technical support and recommendations for technological improvement to division users of the various business processes, computer information systems, and computer applications; developing specialized accounting reports using report writing software; development of user training and system documentation for new and updated accounting and business software modules to the university community; managing the maintenance of websites for the Division of Business and Finance; coordinating division training programs; providing training to division computer users; troubleshoot reported problems pertaining to administrative systems, related reports and the database environment; managing the implementation, enhancement and maintenance of web applications; acting as lead for various complex projects; and performing other related duties as assigned. Essential Functions - Manages implementation of the Business and Finance division's information technology (IT) servers and services. - Develops specialized accounting reports with report writing software to support the reporting requirements of the Business and Finance division. - Develops and manages division's IT strategic plan. - Researches, analyzes and implements division's IT initiatives. - Manages implementation of specialized or complex IT applications; manages division use of IT helpdesk system. - Manages maintenance of unit's business and computer systems; confers with Office of Information Technology (OIT) personnel and division users regarding problems and enhancements. - Manages planning, testing and implementing upgrades for computer systems; provides leadership for project teams for enhanced technology.
Secondary Functions - Provides training to the university community as necessary for the various university accounting and reporting systems; coordinates university wide training programs for the Business and Finance division; assists in training and the transference of technological knowledge to users in the division. - Serves on various university committees dealing with IT purchases and implementation related to the division. - Analyzes and resolves desktop computing problems or refers to OIT; recommends new desktop software. - Manages maintenance of websites for the Business and Finance division; serves in a support role on web application projects for the division; - Conducts annual review of divisional websites to ensure compliance with standards, accuracy of site content and functionality of the sites - Investigates, tests, recommends and implements new technologies and standards. - Serves on university committees as necessary. - Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities - Knowledge of systems theories, practices and methods. - Knowledge of query and report writing tools. - Knowledge of web and network security. - Ability to synthesize new technologies and integrate them into strategic planning. - Ability to assist in creating web based technologies and web pages. - Ability to communicate with all levels of employees to derive solutions to technology issues. - Ability to facilitate and create a team-based working environment. - Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities. - Ability to stay current in field of technology.
Supervision Given and Received Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business, information technology or related field supplemented with at least12 semester hours in accounting; five years experience with systems and computer applications; some experience with Visual Basic, Access, HTML, JavaScript and web design tools such as FrontPage or Dream Weaver; experience with Oracle database systems and SQL in a Banner environment, systems and technology experience in higher education and some experience with report writing in a Banner university environment preferred.
