Function of Position

Responsible to the Director for supervising, scheduling and coordinating the day-to-day processing of all financial aid applications and award data; disseminating financial aid information and maintaining responsibility of computer programs and reports; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

-Provides daily supervision of administrative and support staff.

-Oversees monitoring and removing of all financial aid hold flags.

-Monitors athletic awards for NCAA and Southern Conference compliance including processing of non-renewal letters.

-Oversees the awarding procedures for the Tennessee Student Assistance Award.

-Oversees all mainframe computer programs used in the financial aid office.

-Oversees implementation of the unofficial withdrawal policy and insures proper procedures are taken.

-Serves as special liaison with athletic office.

-Works with Information Technology to develop and maintain computer jobs required for daily operations, special projects and for statistical information.

-Works with complete office staff to determine more efficient ways to accomplish tasks.

-Completes federal, state and institutional reports and surveys.

-Complies with all NCAA rules and regulations, and acknowledges this compliance as part of an annual evaluation process.

-Signs an NCAA Compliance Statement annually.

Secondary Functions

-Maintains computer security clearances on office full-time and temporary employees.

-Counsels with clients in a problem solving capacity.

-Serves as office contact for computer equipment service requests, and access to mainframe issues.

-Serves as contact for the Department of Health and Human Services; disseminates information to appropriate campus locations.

-Awards SDS nursing grants per federal guidelines.

-Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Abilities

-Knowledge of regulations governing various financial aid programs.

-Knowledge of federal financial aid programs and regulations, needs analysis and budgeting.

-Ability to counsel students and parents.

-Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, small groups and large audiences.

-Ability to develop and maintain computer programs.

-Ability to make sound decisions.

Supervision Given and Received

Performs under general supervision.  Determines own methods of performing assigned work.  Directly supervises administrative and classified employees.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in counseling, education or related area preferred; three years experience in financial aid.
