Function of Position

Responsible to the Director for managing the Career Placement and Internship Services (CPIS) unit within the Advisement, Resources and Career (ARC) Center; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

- Organizes and markets ARC services.

- Manages outcome surveys including planning, analysis and implementation strategies.

- Serves as a liaison for the Director of Career Placement and Internship Services and ARC administrators.

- Monitors and reports on student, employer, staff and alumni usage of CPIS/ARC.

- Supervises the graduate assistant assigned to the CPIS/ARC.

- Advises students in the usage of computers, resume development, Internet searches and CPIS registration.

- Manages all initiatives, programs and administration of cooperative education and internship services.

- Develops company/organization partnerships for cooperative education and internship services.

- Monitors current cooperative education student placements and visits with company/ organization representatives to review academic learning agreements and student performance.

- Works with staff members of regional chambers of commerce, and the First Tennessee Development District to establish business contacts.

- Makes presentations to civic and business groups.

- Consults with deans, department heads and faculty concerning cooperative education process.

- Counsels students about cooperative education placements, career choices and resume development.

- Makes classroom and student organization presentations concerning cooperative education and career development.

Secondary Functions

- Seeks private, federal or state grant funding to augment cooperative education programming.

- Develops 504/ADA reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities who are in cooperative education placements.

- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of job market on local, regional and national levels.

- Knowledge of skills, aptitudes, and education associated with multifarious careers.

- Knowledge of current and future job market supply information and degree of competition within each respective career.

- Knowledge of computers.

- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and small/large groups.

- Ability to organize effectively.

Supervision Given and Received

Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree required; one year of experience in business, industry, health care or government.
