potential; Function of Position Responsible to the Assistant Vice President for Procurement and Contract Services for tagging new equipment, recording all pertinent information and inputting information into the computer; overseeing the sale of university surplus property; supervising classified employees; planning and implementing procedures; providing for accountability regarding materials shipped or received; and performing other related duties as assigned. Essential Functions - Maintains an accurate record of all ETSU equipment to insure proper accountability. - Tags and records information for new equipment and tracks old equipment. - Acts as liaison between the university, vendors and shippers. - Maintains warehouse and surplus goods at various university storage locations. - Supervises all receipts of goods at Central Receiving. - Inputs inventory data into the Fixed Asset System. - Reconciles reports and balances inventory to the General Ledger Control on a monthly, quarterly and fiscal year end basis. - Supervises the collection and sale of all university surplus equipment at public auctions. - Supervises the storage and redistribution of all goods received by the university. - Supervises classified employees. Secondary Functions - Maintains inventory of copy paper, computer paper and denatured alcohol. - Coordinates the donation of surplus university equipment to local public school systems. - Assists personnel with the unloading of trucks, receipting of goods and delivery to campus departments. - Stores gases and alcohol in compliance with OSHA regulations. - Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge and Abilities - Knowledge of computers and related software including spreadsheets, word processing and Windows. - Knowledge of inventory control processes. - Ability to effectively supervise employees of lower classification. - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and other employees. - Ability to evaluate situations and make decisions. - Ability to keep records and prepare reports. Supervision Given and Received Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work. Supervises classified employees. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business administration, transportation or related area of concentration; two years experience in a receiving/inventory environment; experience in a college or university setting preferred.
