potential; Function of Position Responsible to the Associate Director, Compensation and Employee Development, for assisting in the maintenance of the university compensation plan; collecting, analyzing and developing occupational data; interviewing employees and supervisors through desk audits; evaluating, classifying and writing of audit reports on positions; evaluating, writing and maintenance of position descriptions; assisting in the development and implementation of salary surveys and analyzing data; completing salary and benefit surveys; coordinating the advertisement of university positions; preparing reports, special projects and correspondence; assisting with updating and distributing the Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual; assisting in the maintenance of university search procedures; interpreting human resource policies and procedures for faculty and staff; and performing other related duties as assigned. Essential Functions - Assists in the maintenance of the university compensation plan. - Collects and assists in analyzing and developing occupational data concerning jobs, qualifications, duties, salaries and responsibilities. - Interviews employees and supervisors through desk audits to ascertain requirements regarding duties, responsibilities, consequence of error, etc. - Evaluates, classifies and writes audit reports as required on all administrative and support staff positions. - Evaluates, writes, and maintains position descriptions for all administrative and support positions. - Communicates and interprets to supervisors and employees all classification and salary procedures and policies. - Assists in developing and implementing salary surveys and analyzing data. - Completes a variety of salary and benefit surveys received from outside sources. - Coordinates the advertisement of university positions through review of Request to Advertise forms, and posting of Employment Opportunities to ETSU website. - Maintains daily contact with faculty and staff to provide interpretation of human resource policies and procedures. - Assists with employee relations functions. Secondary Functions - Prepares reports, projects and correspondence. - Assists in maintaining university search procedures and interprets procedures for faculty and staff. - Assists in maintaining the Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual. - Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge and Abilities - Knowledge of federal and state laws, TBR regulations and university policies/ procedures regarding human resource management. - Knowledge of basic personnel/human resources theory and principles. - Knowledge of computer systems as applied to personnel systems. - Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications. - Ability to effectively collect, analyze, evaluate and prepare human resource statistical data. - Ability to communicate effectively. Supervision Given and Received Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree required with two years professional human resource experience required; or master's degree required in business, human resource management or related field with human resource experience preferred; strong written and verbal communication skills required; knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications required.
