potential; Function of Position Responsible to the Assistant Director/Associate Professor, Archives of Appalachia, for processing manuscript and audiovisual collections; managing preservation and duplication of vintage sound and moving image collections; assisting with the development of the website; supervising staff in cataloging and acquisitions of special collections; sharing responsibility for public service; teaching one course per semester in the Archival Studies program; and performing other related duties as assigned. Essential Functions - Processes manuscripts and media collections. - Preserves and duplicates sound and moving image collections. - Supervises staff in cataloging and acquisitions. - Shares responsibility for public service. - Teaches one course in archival studies. Secondary Functions - Assists with development of the website. - Participates in Center special projects. - Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge and Abilities - Knowledge of the principles of archival administration. - Knowledge of audio and video recording preservation. - Knowledge of computers including HTML and XML, website development, and databases. - Knowledge of Appalachian folklore and music. - Ability to work in a team environment. - Ability to communicate effectively. Supervision Given and Received Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work. Supervises classified employee. Minimum Qualifications ALA-accredited MLS or graduate degree in appropriate field with archival training; experience cleaning and duplicating vintage audio and video recordings; two years professional archival experience; experience teaching archival administration preferred; experience with web development and database software preferred.
