Function of Position

Responsible to the Chair for directing field education in an established BSW program with over 150 majors; building a field curriculum for the MSW program; teaching in either or both programs as needed; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

-Maintains all aspects of the field curriculum and ensures compliance with Council of Social Work Education accreditation standards.

-Places students in appropriate field settings each semester.

-Develops and maintains field curriculum/placements for BSW and MSW programs.

-Ensures appropriate training and qualifications of field supervisors.

Secondary Functions

-Teaches social work courses/seminars as needed.

-Advises social work majors and serves on departmental committees as appropriate.

-Performs other related duties as assigned.

-Knowledge of community services and agencies.

-Ability to communicate effectively.

-Ability to build positive relationships with students and practicing community.

-Ability to teach.

-Ability to work on a team with faculty.

Supervision Given and Received

Performs under general supervision.  Determines own methods of performing assigned work.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in social work required; four years direct practice experience; supervisory experience with BSW and MSW students desired.
