Function of Position

 

Responsible to the Athletic Director for managing special projects, including the planning, creative, and implementation processes; compiling marketing research to support university athletic business development; serving as the department personnel officer; and performing other related duties as assigned. 

 

Essential Functions

-          Develops and implements an integrated communications strategy for the Capital Campaign including standard media such as: brochures; PowerPoint presentations; signage; Internet; speaking engagements; and ground breakings.

-          Maintains responsibility for the creative that will provide a memorable and unified Athletics Capital Campaign.

-          Plans, creates, coordinates, and monitors Capital Campaign portion of the Foundation web site and linkage from Athletics portion of Web site.

-          Works closely with the Athletic Director to coordinate the identification and solicitation of donors to the Athletics Capital Campaign.

-          Serves as point of contact for all Athletics Capital Campaign fundraising.

-          Develops and maintains prospect database.

-          Leads the planning, conducts the research, completes the creative and is responsible for the implementation of special projects.

-          Develops sustainable community/student-athlete/donor events and focused experiences to showcase the department’s achievements, such as: Night of Champions awards ceremonies/banquets, Hall of Fame weekend, ground breakings, Dragon Boat Race, and other occasions to include setting agenda, all creative, site selection, signage, invitations, programs, speakers, awards, communications, presentations, giveaways, and follow-ups. 

-          Compiles marketing research to support university athletics business development strategy.

-          Works with the Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations (position under audit) to lead the departmental branding/identity strategy.

-          Serves as the departmental personnel officer; leads the hiring process by tracking and monitoring staff requests; provides information to ensure equitable staff classifications and salary levels; writes or

edits job specifications and advertisements; monitors and processes all employment contracts;  implements/ensures proper employment procedures; and serves on athletic search committees.

-          Handles documents/issues of a sensitive and confidential nature.

Supervision Given and Received

 

Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work.  Supervises classified employees.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred; five to seven years experience in marketing, business development, projects management and business administration.
