Position Title: Fit Kids/Seniors Coordinator

Function of Position

Responsible to the Chair for securing funding, contacting area principals and supervisors, setting program goals and curriculum, hiring, training and supervising graduate students and placing them in schools and senior facilities, and publicizing the program and events; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

- Secures funding for program operation.

- Hires and trains graduate students and observes work performance.

- Communicates with area schools.

- Coordinates outside events essential to the program.

- Develops curricular activities.

- Obtains extramural funding for graduate assistantships, program supplies and equipment.

- Initiates special projects designed to promote community awareness of fitness and healthy lifestyles.

Secondary Functions

- Prepares advertising and publicity for the program.

- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Abilities

- Knowledge of physical education in elementary schools.

- Knowledge of exercise physiology.

- Ability to communicate effectively.

- Ability to secure funding from private enterprise.

Supervision Given and Received

Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in physical education; teaching experience in public schools; experience with budgets and fund raising.
