Position Title:                                        Coordinator, Greek Life and Service Programs

Department:                                          Student Life and Leadership

 

Function of Position

Responsible to the Director of Student Activities for facilitating the delivery of co-curricular community service programs and programs and services targeted to the Greek community; providing administrative support to plan implement and center programs; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

-Oversees policy and program development for the social Greek-letter organizations including advising the Interfraternity Council, the Panhellenic Council, the Pan-Hellenic Council, Order of Omega honor society, various committees, individual officers and students.

-Serves as the campus liaison to Greek-letter social sororities and fraternities national offices, and community-Greek relations.

-Resolves conflicts between and within Greek organizations through mediation.

-Addresses risk management issues (alcohol, hazing, facilities, social functions).

-Works closely with membership recruitment/ intake.

-Serves as advocate for and promotes student involvement in co-curricular activities as well as community service/service-learning programs.

-Assists in the delivery of developmental educational and social programming.

-Collaborates with the Assistant Director of Service-Learning in program development and implementation in service-learning, volunteer community service, civic engagement and other related activities.

-Supervises coordination of the America Reads Challenge, a literacy-focused program for at-risk elementary-aged students.

-Supervises implementation of Alternative Spring Break.

-Supervises graduate assistant advisor to Volunteer ETSU.

-Establishes and maintains contact with private and public agencies and other organizations to create community service opportunities for students and student organizations.

-Prepares and manages budgets in all assigned program areas.

-Conducts program assessments in relation to students' learning outcomes.

-Assists in the overall operation of the Center for Student Life and Leadership.

Secondary Functions

-Assists in the coordination and presentation of student life programs to varied campus and community constituents.

-Serves on various university and community committees.

-Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Abilities

-Knowledge of student development theories and concepts.

-Knowledge of student activity programming principles.

-Knowledge of risk management policies and procedures.

-Knowledge of community service agencies and volunteer programs.

-Knowledge of the role of student affairs in higher education.

-Knowledge of leadership theory, educational outcome assessment and program evaluation.

-Knowledge of contractual and liability issues relative to student programming.

-Kowledge of leadership theory.

-Knowledge of budget preparation and management.

-Knowledge of IFC, NPC, NPHC national policies and procedures.

-Ability to organize and direct multiple activities simultaneously.

-Ability to utilize spreadsheets, word processing, databases, graphics and electronic communication technologies.

-Ability to gather, analyze and interpret data.

-Ability to assist students in identifying, developing and implementing new student activity programs.

-Ability to project and interpret co-curricular programs/activities as an integral part of the collegiate experience.

-Ability to communicate effectively with various constituents.

-Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.

Supervision Given and Received

Performs under general supervision.  Determines own methods of performing assigned work.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in college student personnel, counseling or related area; two years full-time experience advising college-level student organizations and coordinating campus service programs as well as community and program development.
