Function of Position
The Dean serves as the chief executive officer for all aspects of the College’s administration and is directly responsible to the Vice President for Health Affairs. The Dean advocates for the College within the University hierarchy and in the community-at-large. The Dean is a standing member of the President’s Council, the Division of Health Affairs Council and the Dean's Council.
Essential Functions

Provides dual
role of visionary leadership and operation management for the College that is
consistent with the College and University missions and strategic initiatives.
- Serves as chief operating officer for the College and holds overall responsibility for instructional, research, service, fiscal, and other resources that support the College mission.
- Chairs the College Leadership Team and supports the decision-making process of the governing Councils of the College.
- Represents and advocates for the College with other units on campus and at the state and national levels.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with other Colleges within the University and with community partners and constituents in regional, national, and international organizations who are key to the academic, research, and service mission of the College.
- Oversees all aspects of the evaluation effort and accreditation process of the College.
- Knowledge of general academic policies and curriculum issues
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret governing policy of a TBR academic unit
- Knowledge of CEPH and ASPH policy and procedures for operating accredited public health programs
- Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and university partners
- Ability to develop partnerships with public health constituents at the local, regional, national, and international levels
- Ability to promote public health education of the student body and faculty excellence in teaching, service, and scholarly activity.
Supervision Given and Received
Initiates broad programs under general direction, working from policies and general objectives. Supervises administrative heads of the College of Public Health.
Minimum Qualifications
Earned terminal degree in appropriate discipline
within the college; senior-level administrative experience in public health or
in an accredited school of public health; and scholarly achievement appropriate
for appointment as a tenured full professor in an academic department in the
College.
