Function of Position
Responsible to the Associate Athletic Director for Development/Executive
of the Buccaneer Athletics Scholarship Association (BASA) for a variety of
functions associated with athletics fund-raising by directing programs for
individual contributions to
Essential Functions
- Establishes and directs Buccaneer Athletics Scholarship Association (BASA) groups in appointed city of conference membership to increase fan/donor support for sports programs. - Develops an annual plan for private individual fundraising and works to move donors in this direction through cultivation and stewardship. - Oversees the conversion of the donor database to a new data system that merges athletic donor giving histories and tickets to better service donors. - Maintains donor database and generates monthly financial reports to the Athletic Director, the Associate Athletic Director for Advancement/Executive Director of BASA, and the BASA board. - Researches and prepares reports to assist in donor development and fundraising strategies. - Generates an annual report at the end of each fiscal year. - Coordinates gift acknowledgement program. - Coordinates the activities of the BASA Board of Directors and coordinates volunteers in various fund-raising activities. - Coordinates donor recognition and donor/prospect entertainment. - Publishes a newsletter and assists the Associate Athletic Director for Advancement/Executive Director of BASA with the development of solicitation proposals, brochures and other literature. - Oversees the BucWild Program to include managing the budget; special event planning; benefits planning and distribution; and coordinating marketing and donor support. - Oversees the Junior BucWild Program to include managing the budget; special event planning; benefits planning and distribution; and coordinating marketing and donor support. - Oversees the Letterwinners Program including the distribution of Letterwinner Awards and researching strategies to increase alumni Letterwinners involvement in ETSU athletics. - Monitors ETSU Athletics Website and make recommendations as it pertain to BASA. - Develops a special events calendar. - Assists head coaches with sport-specific fund-raising projects to provide departmental coordination. - Hosts donors at various athletic events. - Coordinates Event Management as it pertains to donors (donor parking or hospitality). - Assists in the development of a fund-raising strategic plan. - Assists in the development of strategies to raise funds for capital projects in cooperation with the Office of University Advancement and Capital Campaign Steering Committee. - Assists in the research and design of athletic facilities as it pertains to master planning of multiphase projects including communication with architects, reading and making recommendations about building plans to meet athletic team needs, spectator needs, and donor needs based on the newest building strategies and the traditions and history of ETSU. - Works as a liaison between athletics, physical plant, architects and construction companies in the building phase of athletic facilities. - Pursues donors to athletic facilities for both monetary and in-kind donations. - Works closely with staff of University Advancement to ensure accurate coordination of records and proper coordination of solicitation and events. - Prepares and presents reports/lectures for different special interest groups in regards to athletics fundraising. - Builds relationships with current and potential donors in an attempt to progress them through the giving cycle in a strategic manner. - Coordinates with Marketing and Promotions in strategic planning for all external relations as it pertains to ETSU Athletics and helps in consumer identification for potential marketing opportunities. - Remains in full compliance with NCAA, University and Atlantic Sun Conference rules. - Complies with all NCAA rules and regulations and acknowledges this compliance as part of an annual evaluation process.

Signs an NCAA Compliance Statement annually.
Secondary Functions
- Assists Marketing and Promotions in hosting events, game day operations and consumer contacts. - Assists in ETSU’s efforts to host A-Sun events including conference tournaments; serves on committees as needed.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of databases to include but not limited to: Access, E-Tapestry, Jump (Titan), Team Desktop, Frontrush. - Knowledge of university information systems: ADS, Banner, and E-Bucs. - Knowledge of computer software. - Knowledge of NCAA Compliance Software. - Knowledge of communication software such as Onletterhead. - Knowledge of basic athletics fundraising principles as well as an understanding of general fundraising as it refers to University fundraising and non-profit fundraising. - Knowledge of fundraising software, especially as it pertains to merged athletic fundraising and tickets. - Ability to read blueprints, plans and understanding basic architectural drawing and mechanical drawing.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree in related field preferred;
four to six years experience in fund-raising, sales or marketing.
