potential; Function of Position Responsible to the Director of Athletics for enhancing the image, increasing revenues, and creating awareness for university athletics through marketing, media sales, and promotional activities; and performing other related duties as assigned. Essential Functions - Serves on the departmental senior staff in long and short-term planning, development of policies, and development of the budget. - Develops and initiates comprehensive marketing plan, strategies and priorities. - Cultivates external business opportunities and corporate partnerships to include, but not limited to, marketing, advertising, promotions and game sponsorships. - Coordinates and oversees all marketing and promotional programs, both internal and external, that relate to university athletics. - Coordinates all advertising and corporate hospitality programs. - Administers and coordinates the sales and operation of corporate tents. - Produces Tier I tickets brochures, sponsorship proposals, and related publications as it pertains to the marketing of all athletic events. - Oversees advertising programs associated with scoreboards and stadium/arena signage. - Coordinates season and single game ticket sales marketing campaigns. - Works with the marketing and promotions staff to devise and implement an overall plan to market each individual game to maximize interest and attendance. - Strives to increase awareness of all sports through print and electronic media, telephone calls, and group contacts. - Coordinates, with the assistance of the Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations, all broadcasting controlled by university athletics including all radio networks and coaches radio and television shows. - Assists with the selection of appropriate media outlets for university athletics, selection of talent, and overall development of the ETSU Radio Network. - Coordinates with the Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations the radio and television operations, including production and advertising sales efforts. - Creates and develops as required radio call-in shows involving various ETSU head coaches and others as possible. - Selects appropriate television stations and negotiates arrangements within university guidelines to air shows highlighting ETSU athletic programs. - Assists with the negotiation of media contracts. - Works with marketing assistants to continually improve game presentation and game experience for our customers. - Develops and implements comprehensive plans to improve the overall presentation in the areas of appearance of ticket sellers/takers, public address announcer, music, player introductions, band, cheerleaders, time out/halftime promotions, and entertainment. - Works toward creating a positive game experience for all in attendance. - Develops special events and coordination of all fund-raising activities through the Executive Director for Athletic Advancement. - Coordinates message board program. - Coordinates charitable requests. - Assists with other special events as assigned by the Director of Athletics. - Remains in full compliance with NCAA, University, and Southern Conference rules. - Complies with all NCAA rules and regulations, and acknowledges this compliance as part of an annual evaluation process. - Signs an NCAA Compliance Statement annually. Secondary Functions - Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge and Abilities - Knowledge of effective principles of organization and management. - Knowledge of basic accounting functions. - Knowledge of university intercollegiate athletic programs. - Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship with the campus and corporate community. - Ability to communicate effectively. - Ability to display initiative and creativity. - Ability to meet stated objectives and deadlines. Supervision Given and Received Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work. Directly supervises the Coordinator of Marketing and Promotions, Merchandising and Event Management, the Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations, marketing interns, student assistants, and volunteers. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred; three years of administrative experience, preferably at the Division I level.
