their full potential; Function of Position Responsible to the Director of Academic Technology for working with faculty, departments, colleges and schools to identify and support new and existing ETSU and RODP online courses and programs. The person in this position must have vision; aggressively pursue the development of new online programs and courses for both ETSU and RODP; work closely with faculty to ensure proper support for online and web-enhanced course development; work with departments, colleges and schools to provide proper staffing of RODP courses offered by ETSU; provide continuous program management and faculty support consistent with ETSU and RODP methods, policies and practices; maintain data and generate reports on course offerings and enrollments; adapt to changing priorities, be creative, and work independently; and perform other related duties as assigned. Essential Functions Advises the Director of Academic Technology in the Office of eLearning regarding faculty and staff development initiatives and implementation of emergent technologies to ensure ETSU has a forward moving vision regarding online and web-based course delivery and development. - Provides guidance and instructional design support for all faculty in the creation of online and web-enhanced courses that consider best practices for online instruction. - Develops and presents formal and informal workshops and training sessions on instructional design strategies and online and web-enhanced course development using sound pedagogical principles. - Provides technical support to staff and faculty in the design and development of online and web-based courses. - Develops a variety of training materials, such as manuals, instructional guides, interactive online tutorials, and presentations. - Assists with the development and teaching of Faculty Technology Leadership course objectives, materials, and assessments. - Provides training to new faculty teaching RODP online courses for ETSU. - Works with schools, colleges, and departments to identify and develop new online courses and programs. - Promotes the professional development and support of university faculty, particularly in the area of teaching and learning. - Remains informed of technological and pedagogical developments in online learning. - Researches advances in web-based course development technologies, products, and service offerings. - Manages RODP faculty assignments and teaching contracts ensuring that faculty have the proper teaching credentials. - Produces and annual RODP productivity report. - Manages the section requirements for RODP courses offered by ETSU. - Works closely with colleges and departments to ensure their online course development needs are being met. - Supports the mission and goals of Academic Technology, eLearning, and Online Education unit. - Interacts with a variety of vendors in evaluation of instructional technology products, programs and services. - Manages the course public page creation for ETSU online courses. - Supports faculty and staff in the integration of technology in education. - Responds in an efficient and effective manner to email and telephone calls related to course development support and issues. Secondary Functions Serves on committees as assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of current techniques and procedures used in the design, development and evaluation of online programs, methods, materials, teaching and assessment techniques. Knowledge of research and development on learning environments. Knowledge of adult learning theories and concepts. Knowledge of authentic and alternative assessment methods and practices. Knowledge of instructional applications of new technologies. Knowledge of course development in a learning management system. Knowledge of common computer operating systems and software used to build web applications. Ability to design, develop, and evaluate instructional materials and programs. Ability to troubleshoot and identify creative solutions. Ability to manage multiple complex tasks. Ability to organize and maintain data. Ability to interact with strong interpersonal skills and commitment to customer satisfaction Ability to be flexible, create and dependable. Ability to communicate effectively. Supervision Given and Received Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree required; three to five years of work-related experience required; two years higher education experience working with academic programs development required; experience with course development in a learning management system required; experience in teaching or training adult learners preferred; experience with online teaching preferred.
