Function of Position
This position involves writing and supporting programming for a diverse unit with many technical needs of varying complexity serving multiple functions. It requires working with the Dean of Graduate Studies to develop and support office databases; oversee in-house electronic application referral process and related admissions needs; assess and address technical needs of other operations in the unit; design and produce new data reports; generate letters in Banner; create graphic designs for office publications; design and update websites; maintains security for office databases; perform other related duties as assigned by the Dean. Work includes interpersonal communication with constituents of diverse backgrounds. Duties include working with specialty software as well as the new Banner computer system.
Essential Functions
- Develops/supports office databases; security of same.
- Oversees in-house electronic application referral and other administrative procedures (some Banner interface)
- Assesses/addresses technical needs of other operations in unit (some Banner interface).
- Performs report data design; mining (some Banner interface).
- Designs publication; designs and updates website.
Secondary Functions
- Oversees the update of recruit listings on commercial sites.
- Advises on all software purchases.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to program computers. (e.g., C-sharp, C++, SQL, HTML).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Access).
- Knowledge of database design and security.
- Ability to communicate and with strong interpersonal skills.
Supervision Given and Received
Performs under general supervision. Plans and arranges own work which is directed toward an established objective. Supervises graduate student.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science required; some experience preferred.
