Function of Position
This position will report to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
and will be assigned 50% to perform specified duties associated with the
academic budget and 50% to provide oversight of planning and institutional
effectiveness database software. In
providing these support functions for budget and planning, the position will
work closely with both the Assistant to the Provost for Academic Budget and
Personnel and the Executive Director, Office of Planning and Analysis.
Essential Functions

Carries
out tasks as assigned pertaining to budget development, oversight, and control.

Assumes
major assigned responsibility for oversight, documentation, monitoring, and
processes associated with faculty start-up costs (including initial commitments
and expenditure tracking).

Assumes
major assigned responsibility for oversight, documentation, monitoring, and
processes associated with employment of temporary and part-time faculty budgets.

Assumes
major assigned responsibility for system configuration, initial entry of
information, and institutional-wide employment of planning and institutional
effectiveness database software.

Compiles
reports from the database as required by planning and assessment protocols,
accreditation requirements, and program reviews.
Secondary Functions
-
Prepares budgetary and planning reports as assigned.

Performs other related
duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities
-
Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities sufficient to carry out
university, Tennessee Board of Regents, and state regulations and procedures
related to essential job functions.

Demonstrated knowledge of budgetary policies, procedures, and
requirements related to essential job functions (i.e., academic budget and
personnel).

General understanding of university planning and institutional
effectiveness processes and their implications for accreditation protocols.

Ability to communicate effectively with various constituencies re scope
of essential job duties and responsibilities.

Ability to organize time and effort effectively.

Ability to produce reliable, accurate work.

Ability to work under pressure.

Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with
administrators, faculty, and staff at all levels.

Ability to work with common software programs, e.g. Excel and Word,
required.

General knowledge of database software preferred.

Knowledge of and experience with Banner preferred.
Supervision Given and Received
The Provost will oversee overall performance of position responsibilities, and
specific duties associated with general academic budget issues will be monitored
by the Assistant to the Provost for Budget and Personnel and those associated
with planning database responsibilities by the Executive Director for Planning
and Analysis. Indirectly supervises
student workers.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting with three years of accounting experience; or
Master’s degree in accounting required.
Three years experience required with bachelor’s degree.
