Position Title: (Practice Lab) Coordinator

Function of Position
Manages the on-campus skills practice labs in the College of Nursing; prepares
lab for teaching purposes in consultation with faculty; and manages practice lab
equipment and supplies used in the on-campus labs and for teaching nursing
courses at off-campus sites
Essential Functions

Maintains, conducts inventory, and orders skill lab equipment and
supplies.

Develops schedules with faculty for use of skills lab space and supplies.

Anticipates needs and sets up equipment and supplies for lab classes and
practice sessions.

Monitors lab budget and make recommendations for equipment and supply
purchases.

Coordinates use of labs for special activities.

Maintains OSHA compliance with the skills labs.

Trains and supervises student workers and graduate assistants.

Assists students during practice sessions.
-
Tracks and evaluates use of and satisfaction with labs.

Works closely with personnel in the computer lab, testing center, and
peer mentor/peer tutor center to facilitate student learning.

Makes recommendations to immediate supervisor regarding strategic
planning for the area of the practice lab function.

Facilitates faculty use of computerized manikins for instructing
students.
Secondary Functions

Assists students with lab practice sessions.

Orients faculty and students to skill labs.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge and skill in current nursing procedures.

Knowledge of organizational and communication skills

Ability to lift manikins and other practice lab equipment.
Supervision Given and Received
Performs under general supervision.
Determines own methods of performing assigned work.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's of Science in Nursing is required, but a Master’s of Science in
Nursing is preferred; two years of clinical nursing experience; Must be a
Registered Nurse.
