Function of Position

Responsible to the Project Director for assisting with establishing and training school system teams to assess and develop interventions for preschool through high school students with serious behavior problems; facilitating, organizing and assisting a project coordinator and graduate assistants and assigning project duties; assisting with fiscal decisions and monitoring the project budget; overseeing and implementing training modules for participating school system personnel; coordinating and overseeing training workshops for participating school systems; developing, conducting and analyzing project evaluations; conducting functional behavioral assessments of students referred to the project; writing reports based on project activities; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

- Develops and refines training modules for training school system personnel in assessment and intervention for students with severe behavior problems.

- Manages and implements training modules with school system personnel.

- Consults with school system personnel regarding their application of assessment and intervention methods.

- Develops and manages project evaluation activities; supervises project coordinator and graduate assistants in conducting evaluation and observation activities; assigns staff project duties.

- Manages, analyzes and evaluates data resulting from project evaluation activities.

- Develops and manages other project activities with school systems.

- Serves as liaison to other relevant community programs, agencies, advocacy groups, and families of children with severe behavior problems.

Secondary Functions

- Writes progress reports, conference presentations, and manuscripts for publication based on project activities.

- Manages budget and writes financial reports.

- Assists with hiring and training of graduate assistants.

- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Abilities

- Knowledge of developmental and behavioral disabilities.

- Knowledge of behavioral assessment techniques/interventions.

- Knowledge of computers and various software programs.

- Ability to communicate effectively.

- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding information on children with developmental and behavioral disabilities.

Supervision Given and Received

Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in special education or related field; three years of classroom teaching experience with preschool, elementary or secondary-aged students or other comparable direct service to children or youth with learning and/or behavior challenges.
