Function of Position

Responsible to the Assistant Vice President for Community Outreach for planning and coordinating statewide evaluation of Families First program; coordinating data collection through contracted research staff; studying statewide and national data and formulating new policies, grant proposals and programs; contacting think tanks and developing collaborative research projects; writing policy and research papers for publication and dissemination; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

-Conducts in-house research projects.

-Submits grant proposals for external funding in areas of research and service.

-Coordinates external contractors' outcome/performance oriented data.

-Responds to data requests and prepares reports from Tennessee state government.

Secondary Functions

-Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Abilities

-Knowledge of intervention strategies and TDHS programs and procedures.

-Knowledge of nationwide welfare reforms initiatives.

-Knowledge of social science and statistical packages.

-Ability to communicate effectively.

Supervision Given and Received

Performs under general supervision.  Determines own methods of performing assigned work.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. required; two years of research experience.
