their full potential; Function of Position Responsible to the Assistant Vice President for Community Outreach for assisting management in selecting staff and supervising eleven counselors; maintaining required data for reporting and maintaining proper paperwork flow to appropriate agencies; arranging bi-monthly training programs to increase staff knowledge and skills specific to their job of counseling; communicating to managment regarding problems or opportunities; communicating to staff regarding information required to do their job; representing the organization to other community agencies; acts as liaison to County Department of Human Services, and the District Coordinator to coordinate and/or problem solve; assisting and directing counselors who have clients in crisis or have special needs and ensuring that each counselor understands Family Service counseling, brief solution focused therapy and Families First policies; and performing other related duties as assigned. Essential Functions -Develops and implements the Family Services Counseling Program for Families First participants in Washington, Sullivan, Carter, Johnson, Unicoi, Hawkins, Hancock, Greene, Hamblen, Cocke, Sevier, and Jefferson counties. -Trains and supervises Family Services staff providing individual, group, and family counseling. -Serves as liaison between ETSU Families First and the Tennessee Department of Human Services. -Maintains required data for reporting and maintaining proper paperwork flow to appropriate agencies. -Ensures that each Family Services Counselor understands Family Services counseling and its philosophy. Secondary Functions -Participates in public speaking engagements. -Assists in hiring, selecting disciplinary action, termination, and development of staff. -Develops bi-monthly training. -Assists with budgeting. -Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge and Abilities -Knowledge of counseling techniques and intervention strategies. -Knowledge of brief solution focused therapy. -Ability to assist staff in working at their maximum potential. -Ability to communicate effectively. -Ability to solve problems for staff and clients. Supervision Given and Receive Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work. Supervises administrative staff. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in social science, counseling or social work with five years of related experience required; experience with adults having life dominating problems and multiple employment barriers such as domestic violence, substance abuse, family stressors, and mental health issues; experience training and supervising staff in multi-county programs highly desirable. Licensed or license eligible LPC, LMFT or LCSW preferred for Level 10, required for Level 12. Experience with solution focused brief therapy, stages of change and motivational intervention preferred.
