Function of Position

 

Responsible to the Director of Research for assisting the Project Director, Executive Team, and participating faculty members by managing the extensive hands-on details that will be required to accomplish project goals; maintaining essential data for the project; assisting team leaders with their duties; and performing other related duties as assigned.

 

Essential Functions

 

-        Works with faculty, staff and community members to identify needed research actions in Northeast Tennessee.

-        Prepares reports related to the project.

-        Assists team leaders with their specific duties in community outreach, research and training.

-        Arranges for travel and meeting arrangements.

-        Facilitates on and off-campus communication regarding the project; writes and disseminates research updates.

-        Manages and helps design the grant web site.

 

Secondary Functions

 

-        Communicates with and informs community, scientific advisory council, team leaders and principal investigator of project activities.

-        Manages expenditure and budget records.

-        Prepares data for the Executive Team.

-        Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge and Abilities

 

-        Knowledge of university policies and procedures.

-        Knowledge of computers and related software applications (Microsoft Office) and systems (FRS, e-print).

-        Ability to work independently.

-        Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

-        Ability to exercise independent judgment to coordinate grant activities.

-        Ability to prioritize and think critically.

-        Ability to communicate effectively.

-        Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with funding agency personnel, community members, Scientific Advisory Board and Research Consultants.

 

Supervision Given and Received

 

Performs under general supervision.  Determines own methods of performing assigned work.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree required; three years of administrative office experience and one year of grant management and administration are preferred.
