potential; Function of Position Responsible to the Associate Dean, Cross-Disciplinary Studies, for working with cohort students and faculty located at distant sites and area institutions where programs may be located; working with academic and administrative departments to facilitate cohort programs; monitoring and supporting cohort activities; reviewing current practices; developing support services for cohort programs; and performing other related duties as assigned. Essential Functions -Assists academic departments with student recruitment, information meetings, and orientation. -Assists cohort students with admissions, registration and fee payments. -Advises cohort students on general education core, academic proficiency and graduation requirements. -Works with academic departments to coordinate advising for major programs. -Provides students with information regarding alternatives to completing University requirements from a distance. -Provides cohort groups access to challenge and exit exams. -Provides cohort students with ID cards. -Coordinates textbook deliveries, when necessary. -Serves as contact person for cohort liaisons (student, faculty and administrative issues). -Orders and delivers cohort liaison textbooks each semester. -Provides support to faculty teaching at distant locations. -Coordinates off-site classrooms, computer labs and equipment. -Instructs cohort student on library resources. -Provides cohort students support services information. -Prepares student handbooks and other resource information. -Prepares faculty handbook. -Advocates for cohort student. -Surveys students and faculty every semester; responds to needs indicated on completed surveys. -Meets with cohort groups every semester. -Travels frequently. Secondary Functions -Gathers data, creates reports, and performs other tasks as assigned by the Dean, School of Continuing Studies. -Works with division to market cohort programs and recruit students. -Promotes cohort programs to various campus and off-campus constituencies. -Works with division to address cohort concerns. -Works division to develop new initiatives in response to student needs. -Work with division to develop guidelines and materials for academic departments. -Participates in development and maintenance of cohort web pages. -Participates in Cohort Issues Committee meetings. -Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge and Abilities -Knowledge of adult education and practices. -Knowledge of current continuing education practices and programs. -Knowledge of university, admission, registration, general education and graduation policies and requirements. -Knowledge of distance education and on-line degree programs. -Knowledge of advisement practices and degree requirements. -Knowledge of student services and retention strategies for off-campus students. -Knowledge of community colleges and the students they serve. -Knowledge of computers. -Knowledge of the Student Information System (SIS). -Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty and staff. -Ability to work independently. -Ability to communicate effectively. Supervision Given and Received Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in education or related field required; Ed.S. or doctoral degree preferred; experience in adult or continuing education at a college or university required; experience in admissions or student advisement preferred.
