Position Title:  Orientation Specialist

Function of Position

Responsible to the Program Coordinator for recruitment, coordination and implementation of TECTA orientations for 15 counties; and performing other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions

-Coordinates and implements 30-hour orientations for 15 counties.

-Teaches one class per semester at Northeast State Community College; supervises students in the field; assists with CDA process.

-Identifies needs in child care centers and family homes for quality assistance; administers ITERS and ECERS.

-Ensures adherence to contract requirements.

Secondary Functions

-Enters data into computer.

-Prepares correspondence.

-Counsels students as needed.

-Assists with special projects, i.e., Quality Improvement Initiative, quarterly reports, center accreditation preparation, etc.

-Attends state and national conferences.

-Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Abilities

-Knowledge of early childhood education and programs serving young children.

-Knowledge of accreditation process for early childhood programs.

-Knowledge of approaches designed for adult learners.

-Knowledge of computers.

-Ability to work independently and as a team member.

-Ability to communicate effectively.

Supervision Given and Received

Performs under general supervision.  Determines own methods of performing assigned work.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in early childhood education; at least one year of related experience; state teaching license, pre-K through 3rd grade.
