Function of Position

Responsible to the Business Director for the day-to-day business management of the clinic.  This includes supervision and training office personnel; overseeing financial management of the center including blankets management and daily deposit; assisting in the planning and implementation of new procedures to achieve office efficiency; overseeing daily office functions; coordinating provider schedules; coordinating office staff schedules; coordinating maintenance of the center and performing other duties as assigned.

 

Essential Functions

-      Oversees the daily business operations of the clinic.

-      Supervises office staff.

-      Coordinates office staff scheduling to maintain adequate staffing to ensure key areas of clinic are always covered.

-      Coordinates with providers and nursing staff as required to ensure efficient clinic operations and work flow.

-       Answers questions and assists with solving problems.

-      Participates in the development of and maintains, updates and implements policies and procedures.

-      Ensures that end-of-day functions are completed and accurate.

-      Ensures clinic adherence to university policies and procedures.

 

Secondary Functions

-      Coordinates inventory control.

-      Oversees building maintenance.

-       Oversees mail distribution.

-       Provides back-up to office staff as necessary.

-       Attends meetings as required.

-      Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge and Abilities

-      Knowledge of computers.

-       Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding.

-       Knowledge of medical office procedures, insurance and medical terminology.

-       Knowledge of basic principles of bookkeeping/accounting.

-       Knowledge of medical records.

-      Ability to communicate effectively.

-       Ability to analyze situations and recommend solutions to problems.

 

Supervision Given and Received

Performs under general supervision.  Determines own methods of performing assigned work.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s in business related area preferred; ICD-9 and CPT coding preferred; three years experience in a clinic setting with a minimum of one year experience in billing area and one year experience in a supervisory capacity; and additional experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
