Position Title: Coordinator -Placement and Retention Services
Department: Center for Community Outreach and Family Services

Responsible to the Director of Contract Services for individualized case management to all Families First participants; assisting with oversight and management of the employment and training spectrum of the participants from assessment to nine months after they leave welfare; and performing other related duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
- Performs individualized case management development to prepare TANF (Temporary Assistance to Needy Families) recipients for the work force. - Recognizes and cultivates employment opportunities through face-to-face contacts with employers. - Serves as liaison with employment community, post secondary institutions and Tennessee Technology Center. - Monitors and manages cases during nine month post employment period. - Visits with recipients at their work sites and/or home. - Works weekends and evenings as required.
Secondary Functions
- Maintains record keeping. - Participates in employer/community groups. - Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of training programs/opportunities. - Knowledge of local workforce. - Knowledge of educational opportunities and career resources. - Ability to exhibit individualized case management skills. - Ability to communicate effectively. - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Supervision Given and Received
Performs under general supervision. Determines own methods of performing assigned work.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and at least one year experience with Families First program or two years experience with similar program. In lieu of degree, three years experience with the Families First program may be substituted; two years of college will substitute for one year of experience. Date: September, 2005 |
