The University Center's outdoor Amphitheater is one of the enduring campus landmarks. It dates from a 1930's WPA project and is considered one of the most attractive spots on campus. It is a large, 300 tiered seating facility with an elevated performance stae. The area is for informal lectures, small performances, award ceremonies and other such events. The surrounding area includes considerable lawn space appropriate for picnics, displays, or games. During Spring, Summer, and Fall this is one of the most popular areas on campus.
