What is the SORC? What resources are available for use? SORC Mission and Values
What is the SORC?
Pronounced “SOURCE”, this facility for student organization use is just that...A source for all your needs!
The SORC is housed on the lowest level of the D. P. Culp University Center in the two areas outside of the Martha Culp Auditorium. Suite A has many student organization offices and resources for organizational use and Suite B is in the space where Greek Life is currently. Soon, the SORC will be adding a Suite C, located across from the ramp on the lower level of the D. P. Culp University Center. The new Suite C will house the Student Government Association.
Each suite provides work areas and resources for all registered student groups and houses key university sponsored groups and professional staff members.
The purpose of this arrangement is to aid in collaboration and provide much needed supplies, space and advice to large and small groups alike. This idea came about from many conversations and the desire to collaborate between Housing and Residence Life, Student Affairs, Student Life and Leadership and Multicultural Affairs. Now, everyone has a chance to get involved with this great opportunity!
What is available for use?
The number one resource we feel the SORC offers groups is the ability to have easy access to other organizations for the purposes of sharing resources and planning more purposeful events.
However, we also have top of the line computers with all types of software, printers (all sizes, color and B/W), copiers, poster making machines, markers, paints, fax machines, die cut machines, paper folders, hole punchers, work space, storage space and much more.
We plan to evaluate our services regularly and work with you to make this the most useful space that it can be!
The mission of the SORC is to...
Enhance communication between student organizations and university staff
-
Improve collaboration and synergy between organizations and administrators in order to form partnerships and offer higher quality and better attended programs
-
Increase respect for the diversity of people and ideas at ETSU
-
Increase awareness of the range of student organizations, activities and available resources for all students
-
Strengthen communication, leadership, and organization skills for members of student organizations
-
Enhance visibility for student groups, their needs and their programs
