Academic Performance Scholarships for Tennessee Residents

What is The Academic Performance Scholarship (APS) Program?

This is our largest scholarship program recognizing new freshmen and transfer students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement. Beginning Fall 2005, there will be two possibilities for APS awards – GUARANTEED (for new freshmen) and COMPETITIVE (for new freshmen and transfer students).

Currently enrolled students and students earning a second undergraduate degree are not eligible.

What do the Guaranteed and Competitive APS Awards provide?

  • The current APS Award is $2,556 per academic year (not available for summer terms)
  • Renewable for four years with a total award exceeding $10,000.00

The availability and amount of awards are contingent on funding levels each year.

Who can receive a Guaranteed Award?

Beginning Fall 2005, students with an ACT score of 28 or SAT of 1240 or higher and a GPA of 3.5 or higher will be offered a GUARANTEED APS AWARD.

To be eligible for a GUARANTEED APS AWARD, students must complete the admissions application process, including submission of the application for admission, application fee, high school transcript and ACT/SAT scores by December 15. Students who miss the December 15 deadline may be eligible for a COMPETITIVE APS AWARD. They must submit a scholarship application by February 15.

Competitive APS awards are available for students meeting the following criteria:

Most freshman recipients have

  • Valedictorian Status
  • ACT score of 26 or higher (1170 SAT)
  • 3.5 GPA

Scholarship application deadline is February 15

Most transfer recipients have

  • Completed 24 transferable credit hours
  • 3.2 GPA (on all coursework accepted by ETSU)

Scholarship application deadline is May 15

Scholarship does not automatically transfer from a TBR Community College
