Nancy Dishner

Dr. Nancy Dishner serves as Vice Provost for Enrollment Services (2004) and Director of the Roan Scholars Leadership Program (1999). She has primary responsibility for the offices of Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, and Articulated Programs. In addition, she directs the prestigious Roan Scholars Leadership Program.

Nancy also serves as Associate Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis (1984), teaching masters, specialists and doctoral coursework in the areas of ethics, leadership studies, theory, and in the public school endorsement program.

Nancy’s perspective on education has been formed by the variety of roles she has held in elementary education; and at East Tennessee State University in the areas of finance and administration (1983-1984), assistant to the university president (1984-1988), enrollment services (1988-1999 and 2004 to present), faculty member (1984 – present), and the Roan Scholars program director (1999 to present). She was the recipient of the ETSU Distinguished Staff Award.

She holds three degrees from ETSU: a B.S. degree in Elementary Education, summa cum laude (1977); an M.A. in Supervision and Administration (1980); and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership (1984).

She has served two terms on the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce for Johnson City/Jonesborough/Washington County, chairing the Partners in Education program for eight years. She has served on the Johnson City Public Building Authority as chair of the Public Relations Committee, and as secretary/treasurer. She has served on various committees with the public school systems in the area, and presented at many teacher in-service programs.

She has been a presenter at numerous regional and national conferences, and two international conferences, addressing topics of quality service, student success, student recruitment and organizational culture. She also enjoys consulting and motivational speaking with higher education institutions, and private businesses and organizations.
