Institutional Effectiveness

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requires ETSU to identify expected outcomes, assess the extent to which we achieve these outcomes, and provide evidence of improvement based on analysis of the results in each of the following areas:

  • Educational programs, to include student learning outcomes;
  • Administrative support services;
  • Academic and student support services;
  • Research within our mission; and
  • Community/public service within our mission.

Previously, units reported on these areas in TracDat via the PIE (Planning and Institutional Effectiveness) process.  Beginning in AY 2014-15, units will report these items through word templates that will be sent to each unit head and approved through the units reporting structure and an evaluation team that will review both the format and content of each unit’s submission.

This process is a chance for each unit to document their activities for continuous improvement and will provide the opportunity to focus on accreditation and program strength.

While the exact calendar and activities for institutional effectiveness vary from year to year, general guidelines are shown below.
