Registration

  • How do I register?
To register, you can log on to our secure registration page or call our office at 800-222-ETSU (3878).
  • What is the Employee Audit, and how do I know if I qualify?
The Employee Audit is offered to ETSU faculty/staff that have been employed with the university full-time for at least 6 months. This form can be found on the Human Resources Forms page. It is the 2nd form under Educational Forms.
  • If I am submitting an Employee Audit form, do I need to register for the class as well?
Yes. Even if you are submitting an Employee Audit form, you need to either register using our secure web site or by calling our office at 439-8084.
  • Why does the registration page show that the course lasts 1 year while everything else says 2 months?
We purchase our licenses for one year, but we grant access for 2-month periods, so the $60 covers two months.
  • My ETSU username and password are not working when I try to register. What should I do?
Our registration system is for non-credit courses only, so your Goldlink login information will not work. If you have not taken a course with the Office of Professional Development, you will need to Create a New Account.

Logging in to Rosetta Stone

  • I have registered, but I'm not sure how to get to the program.
Each person has to be manually entered into the Rosetta Stone program, so you will receive an email with your login information within three business days of the time you registered. If you have not received it by that time, email call The Office of Professional Development:  800-222-ETSU (3878).
  • How do I get my username and password?

  • I forgot my username.
If you forget your username or password, call 800-222-ETSU (3878).
  • Do I need to download the speech component?
Yes, when the program prompts you to download the speech component, you will need to do so.

Microphone

  • Will I need a microphone for the course?
Yes. The Rosetta Stone program has numerous lessons that include speaking components, so you will want a microphone.
  • I have a microphone built in on my laptop. Will that work?
Built-in microphones will not always work for this program. A microphone that plugs into the computer is recommended.
  • Where can I purchase a microphone?
You can purchase a microphone at almost any electronics store or store with an electronics section, including Best Buy and Walmart.
  • The program isn't reading my microphone during setup. What can I do?
Make sure your microphone is plugged in properly and make sure the microphone works with another program, such as Skype. Then, as you are speaking, try moving closer to and farther away from the microphone as this can make a difference.
  • I really think I am at least close in my pronunciation, but the program won't let me move on. What do I do?
First, try moving closer to and farther away from the microphone. If it still will not let you move on, there is a small double arrow at the bottom of the current picture you are reading. Click on that double arrow to move to the next word.
