SUGGESTIONS FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS WHO ARE SEEKING ADDITIONAL FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
Visit your department chair to see what, if any, options are available in the department. These may include special scholarships, or assistantships. Fellowships are most often associated with doctoral programs but not always. The chair may be aware of opportunities that are specific to your area.
Visit the scholarship office/financial aid office at your school to discover what options are available for graduate students at your institution.
Visit the websites of professional organizations associated with your discipline. For example, psychology students can check with the American Psychological Association, etc. Sometimes, professional associations offer scholarships, internships, etc or have links to such things on their web sites.
Check federal and state government websites for opportunities.
If you are a female, check websites that focus on women or women’s rights - some offer funds and internships.
Don't discount grants - it will require a little more work on the front end but there are options out there. Learn to use Google to your advantage!
