One-to-One Tutoring
A one-to-one session can focus on one specific issue, such as research documentation or getting started on a paper or speech, or provide informed feedback on an entire paper or presentation.

New Media Studios
Facilities include two new media studios where individual students or groups can develop and rehearse oral presentations, develop slide shows using Microsoft PowerPoint (on Mac or PC), and even create professional-quality audio and video podcasts.

Videotaping: Clients can make an appointment to meet with a tutor or office-tech to videotape a presentation or speech. We can email a digital copy to you and/or your instructor for review online, but we ask that you bring your own CD, DVD, or portable storage device for saving your video.

Podcasting: Clients wishing to record and edit audio or video podcasts can schedule an appointment with an office-tech or tutor; we ask that you bring your own CD, DVD, or portable storage device for saving your podcast. We also recommend that you schedule a tutoring appointment at least a day before your podcast session in order to revise and edit your script or paper prior to recording.

Online Help
The WCC's Helpline is an e-mail based service that allows off-campus students to get feedback on a paper from a tutor prior to, or in lieu of, a one-on-one appointment. We can comment on 250 words (about one page) of your document,  answer specific questions and offer general feedback based on a generic rubric. This service is available weekdays only; expect up to 48 hours for a response during the regular school year.

For best results, send an email with your name, course name/number, instructor's name, and a description of the assignment. Indicate which page or portion of the paper you would like us to comment on, and include any specific questions you might have. Attach your paper in a standard format (MS Word works best).

Admittedly, this is not as effective as a one-on-one appointment, but it is our best option for providing help online until we have an synchronous tutoring environment in place.

Online Resources
Our online resources include the WCC's Podcasts and Blogs, a listing of helpful Internet sites for writers and speakers on our Links page, and the Center's Twitter site. We are working on developing an online, synchronous tutoring environment which we will hopefully pilot in Spring 2010.
