FAVORITE ACTIVITIES WHEN NOT AT WORK: Spending time outdoors with the family, gardening, attending stock car races
ADVICE FOR NEW STUDENTS: Take advantage of the opportunity you have for next few years to expand your horizons. Visit cultural resources the university and surrounding area has to offer. Go to plays, recitals, historical sites, concerts, and lectures. Inquire about subjects outside your chosen discipline and challenge your own thinking and established ideas. Enjoy the natural beauty of this region and explore its rich history. Life is short so don’t look back in 30 years and say “when I had the chance at ETSU I wish I had taken the time to …”

As a prospective student you are no doubt trying to find a “good fit” for the next phase of your education and a lot of factors will influence your decision on which institution to attend. If you want a commitment to excellence, a supportive environment and the bonus of a beautiful natural environment ETSU is hard to beat. I can honestly say that I’ve not seen any institution more welcoming and caring than ETSU. The administration, faculty and staff here are genuine and focused on helping you achieve your goals. Your professors will demand a lot from you, yet provide the structure and support necessary for your success. The people here, both in the university and the local community, are as nice and helpful as you’ll ever find. Plus, ETSU is located in one of the most beautiful places on earth. In short, it’s a great place to live and great place to learn. I hope you will join us here at ETSU to continue your education, but whatever your choice is, best of luck.
