Occupation: 3rd grade teacher, North Side Elementary School, Johnson City, TN ETSU degree: B.S.Ed., 1998 (Elementary Education) Other degrees: M.Ed., Tusculum College, 2001 Books read recently: The Power of a Positive Woman by Karol Ladd; The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks Favorite activity when not at work: Cooking, gardening, antiquing and exercising. What was one of your favorite courses at ETSU? I enjoyed all of my elementary education courses because the professors and the department were very helpful and provided me with a quality education. What did you study that's proven to be more beneficial than you thought it would be? My student teaching experience was very positive. The classes I took really helped to prepare me for that part of my education. Why should students consider attending ETSU? ETSU has lots to offer, it’s located in a great community and region, and the staff are friendly and helpful. ETSU is not too big, but not too small—it’s just right! And the university sets high standards for everything it does. What advice would you give students just beginning their college careers? Get involved, set goals, ask questions, study hard, and enjoy this time in your life. What have you learned from your work and life experience since graduating from ETSU? Looking back on all my experiences thus far, I truly feel that if you Believe, you can Achieve. |
