Office of Transfer Articulation

East Tennessee State University

So what does that mean to you? In practical terms, it means that you can take your first two years at a community college, earning an Associate's degree. If you have followed an articulation agreement, then those hours will transfer seamlessly to ETSU. You will enter your major as a junior without loss of credits and with no courses to duplicate at ETSU. You will be well on your way toward earning that Bachelor's degree. We feel that articulation is linked to recruitment, retention, student satisfaction and graduation rates. Students and parents like to have educational plans and assurances that classes will transfer. Articulation is the simplest way to do that. Please feel free to contact us at articulate@etsu.edu or by phone at (423) 439-4723.

This web site is designed for you - the student, community college partners, articulation officers, faculty, advisors, administrators - anyone concerned about articulation. You will find here:

  • Course Transfer Equivalencies spelled out by community college. Answer the question of how the courses you have taken will transfer to ETSU.
  • The second most asked question is "What does it cost?" Find out if there are any Transfer Scholarships available to you.
  • If you have questions about student life, child care, housing, commuting, parking, food service, and a myriad of other 'real life' issues, check out Transfer Student Services.
  • Need a contact at your community college to help you with the articulation/transfer process?
  • View the actual transfer/articulation agreement for your community college and major.
  • Once you've decided that a transfer/articulation agreement is right for you, then complete the Intent to Articulate form. We will notify your community college and your ETSU major department, plus provide you with other requested information.
  • ETSU personnel can find a concise listing of articulation agreements by departments.

NETRAN, the Northeast Tennessee Academic Node, has grown into an extensive network of staff members across the member campuses of East Tennessee State University, Northeast State Community College, and the Tennessee Technology Center at Elizabethton.
