Two power shut downs are necessary at the VA campus to finalize the installation of new conductor cables that supply power to building 2. To allow the termination of these conductors several buildings will lose power on Saturday July 19, 2008 and again on July 26, 2008. The outage hours will be 7:00 am until 4:00 pm (the outage could be earlier or later than 4:00 pm, the work will have to complete each day before the power can be restored and the contractor will be working toward the 4:00 hour to restore the power). The following buildings will be effected: buildings 1, 2, 4, 52 and 119/120.

Building # 1 houses the phone system for the entire VA campus network. The phone system is on emergency power and should experience no outage of service. Also located in building #1 is the main network equipment for the VA campus. This network equipment is also connected to emergency power and should experience no outage.  

In building # 2 a small amount of core network equipment exists that supplies network capabilities to buildings 3, 5, 8, and 34.  To maintain the network capabilities for these buildings on these two Saturdays, a temporary connection to emergency power will be supplied.

Buildings 6, 7 and 178 should experience no outages of power, telephone nor network capabilities during these power shutdowns.
