Alumnus and Alumna |

George
L. Carter Award |
 Outstanding
Alumnus/Alumna must have earned one or more degrees from
the university. He/she must also demonstrate significant
accomplishments in his/her chosen field of work, demonstrate
exemplary service to the community, demonstrate commitment
to the university, and demonstrate commitment to the  Alumni
Association in terms of time, energy, and/or financial support.
He/she should represent the very best the university has
to offer as a graduate, and be a person future graduates
will want to emulate, thus attracting new students and developing
additional graduates of the same high quality.
*ONLY one alumnus and one alumna can receive the award
each year. |

 The
George L. Carter Award is bestowed upon
graduates or friends who have made this university a more
dynamic and viable force in the world of higher education.
Recognition is given only on occasion when an individual(s)
has exhibited the commitment and loyalty supporting ETSU
fitting the example of George L. Carter, and is given only
on occasion when such is warranted by action of the ETSU
Alumni Association. |

 Honorary
Alumnus/Alumna is not a graduate of the university. He/she
must demonstrate moral and/or financial support, shared
skills, knowledge, personal time and energy to the university.
He/she should also be a person who should bring distinction
to the university and should be one with whom the university
desires to be associated.
 
More than one person can be selected per year.

The Armed Services |
|  Award
of Honor recipients must have earned one or more degrees
from East Tennessee State University. He/she must also demonstrate
significant accomplishments in his/her chosen field of work
and demonstrate moral and/or financial support to the university
since graduation.
 More than one certificate may be awarded yearly, not
to exceed four.

 Alumnus/Alumna
must have earned one or more degrees from East Tennessee
State University. He/she must also demonstrate significant
accomplishments in his/her chosen branch of the armed services,
and demonstrate moral and/or financial support to the university
since graduation.
More than one certificate may be awarded yearly. |

 Alumnus/Alumna
