Mrs. Luntsford served two terms as President of the ETSU Alumni Association, served on various committees, and was an enthusiastic supporter of the university. She was a teacher in the Johnson City School System. Luntsford may be the only alumna who attended the University during the four stages of its growth - the Normal School, Teacher's College, East Tennessee State College, and East Tennessee State University; she was present in Nashville during the signing of the bill which brought university status to her alma mater. She was the mother of six children, five of whom have degrees from ETSU.
