Dean Lamb graduated from ETSU in 1937 with a B.S. degree and earned his master's degree in public health from Yale in 1949. Dean Lamb played a major role in helping to acquire university status for East Tennessee State. He was dean of The College of Health, and under his leadership the College gained national fame as one of the best at the undergraduate level. He was elected an associate member of the Tennessee State Dental Association -- only the second time the Association has bestowed such an honor in its more than one hundred years of existence. Among his other endeavors, he was a fellow of the American Public Health Association, the International Union for Health Education of the Public, the American School Health Association, and the Society of Public Health Education.
