Mr. Cardin served as president of his high school graduating class and captain of the football team. Since graduating from ETSU, he has been extremely busy and successful in business and civic affairs. In 1960 he became a CPA and in 1968 was admitted to the partnership of Arthur Andersen and Company, and later became the managing partner of their Chattanooga office, one of the largest offices of independent public accountants in the state. He is a member of numerous professional organizations, serving as president of the Chattanooga Chapter of Internal Auditors, and president of the Greater Chattanooga Area Chamber of Commerce. He has also been active in the United Fund and numerous other volunteer organizations and served on the board of directors and as treasurer for Orange Grove School for the Retarded for several years.
