What is Academic Alert?
Academic Alert is one part of ETSU's retention plan designed to help freshmen students
succeed academically. An instructor may send an alert to the Academic Alert Advisors
if they are concerned about a student's progress in their course for any reason; non-
attendance, poor grades, concerns over personal issues, etc.
How does Academic Alert work?
Professors will notify the academic alert advisors in the ARC about students who are
at-risk or who may need additional assistance. An academic alert advisor will then
contact the student by phone, text message or e-mail. If you are living on campus,
you may also be contacted by your area housing coordinator. If you live off campus,
you may receive a letter mailed to your home address.
What should I do if I receive an Academic Alert?
You should contact the academic alert advisor whose information is provided in the
e-mail, phone message, text or letter. They will discuss your situation and provide
assistance to help you get back on track. If you are unable to reach your academic
alert advisor, you can contact the ARC as follows:

Will an Academic Alert remain in my permanent record?
No. Academic Alerts are not a part of your permanent record at ETSU. They are not
recorded in Goldlink or on a student's transcript.
How do students benefit from the Academic Alert program?
Students will receive personalized attention to work toward a successful resolution
based on the situation. If needed, referrals to appropriate campus resources will
