Event Description
(January 9, 2013) - The ETSU community is saddened by the recent loss of two faculty members as well as the passing of the mother of a staff member.
Dr. Philip Henry died on Thursday, Jan. 3, at a hospital in Washington, D.C. Dr. Henry joined the faculty of the Quillen College of Medicine in 2005 and served as director of the Division of Cardiology and the cardiology fellowship programs.
Dr. Joe Corso passed away during the early morning hours of Monday, Jan. 7. A familiar face in local government, Dr. Corso taught in the ETSU Department of Political Science in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. He joined the university faculty in 1974. The spring 2013 semester would have marked his 39th year on campus.
We are also saddened by the loss of Clara Henegar, who passed away on Jan. 7. Clara was the mother of Penny Hughes, a longtime employee in our food service area. Most people know Penny from her work as the front cashier at the Marketplace cafeteria in the D.P. Culp University Center. Penny’s husband, Jerry, is an officer with ETSU Public Safety.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family members, colleagues, and friends as they grieve these losses.
