Event Description

JOHNSON CITY (February 15, 2013) – Author and recognized authority on leadership Liz Wiseman will be the featured speaker at an Executive Briefing from 8-11 a.m. on Friday, March 8, at the Millennium Centre in Johnson City.

East Tennessee State University’s College of Business and Technology and Eastman Chemical Co. are sponsoring the event, which is part of the Executive Briefing series. The program provides opportunities for regional business and education leaders to benefit from national figures who share their perspectives on achieving performance excellence. The briefing is free and open to the public, but pre-registration by March 1 is required.

Wiseman is president of the Wiseman Group, a leadership research and development firm headquartered in Silicon Valley. She teaches leadership to executives around the world, with Apple, Nike, Microsoft and Roche among her recent clients.

Wiseman is the author of the Wall Street Journal bestseller Multipliers: How the Best Leaders Make Everyone Smarter.  She is a former executive at Oracle Corp. and was employed for 17 years as vice president of Oracle University. She holds a bachelor’s degree, as well as a master of organizational behavior degree, from Brigham Young University and now resides in Menlo Park, Calif.

Wiseman’s topic will be “Are you a genius or a genius maker?” She will share her research results and personal experiences to foster Multipliers, who attract and cultivate talent and new ideas, rather than Diminishers, who seek self-aggrandizement while diminishing everyone around them.
