Event Description
JOHNSON CITY (March 13, 2013) — Students in the East Tennessee State University College of Business and Technology, under the guidance of Dr. William Trainor, professor of finance, accepted the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute Research Challenge.
CFA, a global nonprofit organization of investment professionals, sponsors the worldwide “Challenge” intercollegiate competition among teams of students. Local CFA societies organize teams in regions, with winners continuing to compete at the national level.
Each team works with a local CFA adviser to research and prepare a company analysis. The report is reviewed and scored by judges, and the teams’ final presentations are evaluated by panels of experts from top financial institutions.
ETSU students have participated for the last three years, winning the regional championship in their first year and finishing in the top three last year. This year, ETSU was one of just four teams to advance to the Nashville Regional Final.
In Nashville, the team, composed of Joshua White, Summer Galloway, Chris Johnson and Michael Hutton, placed second.
