Event Description

JOHNSON CITY (March 14, 2013) – East Tennessee State University’s Office of Sustainability will sponsor a showing of the Oscar award-nominated film “Sun Come Up” on Thursday, March 21, at 7 p.m. in the D.P. Culp University Center forum room.

The film relates the “human face” of climate change as it follows the people of the Carteret Islands, a remote island chain in the South Pacific, when they are driven from their islands by climate change and must leave their ancestral land in search of a new home. Their quest takes them to the war-torn island of Bougainville, 50 miles across the open ocean.

For further information, contact Kathleen Moore, ETSU director of Sustainability, at (423) 439-7766.
