Event Description “Question, Persuade & Refer” (QPR) Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Training Hosted by ETSU PEAKS This nationally recognized training addresses how to recognize the warning signs of someone in crisis. For the past 2 years, ETSU PEAKS has worked to raise awareness and reduce stigma about mental health issues on campus. From ETSU PEAKS research, we know that among ETSU students surveyed, 34% reported experiencing depressive symptoms, and 17% reported moderate to severe depressive symptoms; 48% of students reported they had briefly thought of suicide in the past, 13% had planned a suicide attempt, and 2% of students indicated that they were very likely to make a future suicide attempt. Completion of this training will help ETSU students to reduce suicidal behavior and promote well-being on campus. Note that seating is limited to the first 50 people who arrive, and admittance will be determined on a “first come, first serve” basis, so please arrive a bit early to make certain that you have a seat. 243 Lamb Hall 11/28/2012 |
